Bay Area Blog Round-Up

We've been on a bit of a morality kick lately, what with The Da Vinci Code opening, our free wi-fi going south and the Scrubs season finale. Is it really ethical to end the season with that many pregnancies? Alison gets in a little ethical pickle about hookers and Amsterdam, and ponders why it bothers her so much. Meanwhile, Christina decided she needed to do something to break out of a funk and comes perilously close to enlightenment. One of the meditation tricks we've used over the years is to meditate on petting a dog. Not actually owning a dog, because it wouldn't have enough space to roam free, and we'd invariably yell at it for things that weren't its fault, but just meditating on the idea of a dog, the acceptance of a dog. It helps. And that's why we love Dog Blog, still vicariously filling our need for a furry four-legger.

If there's one thing that people can definitely feel accepting about, it's riding your bike to work, it seems there's no way to lose on that one. Unless you're a politician in Civic Center's crosshairs. Then you can forget about it and accept the guilt of liking cars. Or you could take solace in the idea of running naked everywhere.

Bay to Breakers is one of those things it's easy to make fun of, but hard not to love, and some people's bitter taste aside (and we've had plenty of those, too), San Francisco really does seem like the best home there is, and that's the way we like it.

We'll leave you this week with 70s super-group Styx and their contribution to kid-lit, courtesy of Sweet Juniper.
