Stuff To Do If You're Bored
Saturday: The first time we went to the Asian Heritage Street Celebration, we'd just been so horrifyingly dumped that we were considering giving into (well-intentioned) familial pressure and moving back home. But then we walked down the street to the fest, and were reminded of so many of the things we love about the City. And here we remain! This year's Celebration (which runs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Irving between 20th and 29th Avenues) has the added bonus of hosting performances by 2004 American Idol finalist Jasmine Trias and this year's American Idol contestant Jose "Sway" Penala between noon-2:30, as well as the usual entertainment, demonstrations, arts and crafts, and yummy food.
Sunday: This SFist isn't running in Bay to Breakers, but we salute all of you who do. The race starts at 8 a.m. and ends at noon, see their site for maps and street closures.
Monday: "Hey, you guys!" Berkeley Rep (2025 Addison St at Shattuck in Berkeley) hosts a conversation with acclaimed actress Rita Moreno as part of their Page to Stage series. Want to know what it's like to have an Oscar, Emmy, and Tony? Here's your chance. The event is free and begins at 7 p.m.
Tuesday: We're heading over to U.C. Berkeley's Wheeler Auditorium for the China-U.S. Climate change forum, at which scientists, academics, government types and members of the media from the US and China gather at Berkeley to talk about how the world's two largest producers of greenhouse gases should start thinking about global warming. The event is free, and runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. this Tuesday and Wednesday.
