Everybody Hates Chris: The District 6 Election

smChris_and_Jack.jpgThis week's episode: Everybody Hates The Field.

We don't understand why everyone else isn't nearly as obsessed with the District 6 election as we are. How can that be? Thank goodness for the Usual Suspects, who gallantly went out and actually did some research about who's running against Daly in November (only six more shopping months until ELECTION DAY!).

So it's Daly versus the field! So who's the field? Well, there's the three people we've already profiled (Rob Black, the porn producer Alioto-Pier aide; boring Matt Drake; and blogger Manuel Jiminez). But what can we find out about the other Anybody But Daly contenders? Well, thanks to Google, here's what we've got.

After the jump, and in the District 6 race: tetrahedrons, Amazon reviewers, and h. brown. H. Brown?

Picture of Chris and Jack Daly, sizing up the race.

According to Google, Nadia Cabezas is a transgender activist and a cab driver, who enjoyed the book "Where the Word Is No" by Red Jordan Arobateau.

Michael Baertschiger launched a campaign website on March 20, 2006, which is completely content-free (unless "This Page Is Still Under Construction" reflects Mr. Baertschiger's position on improving homelessness).

h brown is running for Daly's seat too. Really? Can't wait to see how SFist gets pilloried in this one!

James Leo Dunn ran for the District 6 seat in 2002. According to the League of Women Voters, Mr. Dunn ran on the platform that we build 288-foot elevated tetrahedrons throughout San Francisco for $288/month to solve homelessness, and dig a tunnel under Nob Hill.

Rodney Hauge ran for mayor against Gavin Newsom and triggered a good heckle about the Gettys. He also ran for the Democratic County Central Committee in 2004 and came in seventh-to-last, with 1654 votes.

Andre Rucker has been the subject of two profiles about the homeless in San Francisco. In May 2004, he spoke out against Care Not Cash and told Angela Alioto that he resented her remarks that homelessness can deteriorate your brain after 3 months, because he'd been homeless for more than 3 months

The people we couldn't find anything about? George Dias, Viliam Dugovic, Robert Jordon, and William Stewart. And you know, this isn't related, but the libertarian male exotic dancer Starchild is running for Bevan Dufty's seat too. Ah, Starchild. Maybe we'll start a Starchild column next.
