The Elected

SFist may have found Relijun this weekend. The Elected’s Blake Sennett started Friday’s set at Bottom of the Hill with an old timey rendition of “Done Me Good”. Organ chords a-blazing and hands shaking above his head Sennett started the show with his gospel-blues-country sound at its biggest. It’s not often that a band with nice sounding recordings a lot better live, but The Elected’s performance made us wish for a bootleg version of the show. The performance, in addition to being much more up tempo than either album featured elements like call and response between a Fender and a Gibson, and some solo acoustic songs by Sennett. Plus, the touring key-boardist (we apologize for not being able to find his name) is from Berkeley, so there was a strong local contingent. Besides putting on a killer show and playing favorites from the last album like “Greetings in Braille”, Sennett won SFist’s adoration by reaching out to us specially. He announced from the stage that he loves the burritos at El Farlito. He’s welcome in SF anytime.
