Stuff To Do If You're Bored
Saturday: we're hitting the YBCA (700 Howard Street at Third) for the SFist Krissy-recommended Kronos Quartet and experimental musicians, Matmos and Walter Kitundu collaboration. Sure, we love the Kronos Quartet and Matmos, but we're also eager to see the extraordinarily threatening Kitundu in action. Shows are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m., buy tickets here.
Sunday: we can't miss Maker Faire, the DIY get-together to beat all get-togethers, at the San Mateo Fairgrounds. There are programs, workshops, presentations, and crap to buy Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (with special events until 9) and Sunday from 10 to 5.
Monday: we're seeing the World Premiere of Runners High at the SFIFF. A documentary about Students Run Oakland, a group dedicated to training East Oakland teens to run the LA Marathon, it follows SRO for one season, start to finish. Inspirational sports movies kick us in in the heart, so we're weepy just writing that summary.
Tuesday: Bitch Magazine is in the Independent Press Spotlight at Intersection For The Arts (446 Valencia between 15th and 16th). Bitch will be joined byfeatured artists Daphne Gottleib and Beth Lisick, and will share the spotlight with Manic D Press The evening will begin with readings from the featured artists followed by a Q&A session with publishers and editors.
