Go see Ladies They Talk About this Wednesday and Thursday at the Reel SF film fest at the Balboa!
Santa Clara's high tech crime unit is preening itself after prevailing against a burglar who caused at least $750,000 in losses to local companies. A 6'5" African-American burglar with a shaved head (they called him "The Green Mile") was pretending to be a security guard, walking into companies like Cisco, eBay, Yahoo, and Google, and stealing chips and circuit boards. Turns out he was from Las Vegas, would fly into Oakland or SFO, rent a car, drive to a company, and just walk in and take stuff. The Green Mile got arrested on the skybridge of SFO after a crime spree in 2004.
A star high school basketballer from St. Elizabeth's High School in Oakland was killed early Monday morning in a shooting outside the Mingles club in Jack London Square. This is Oakland's 42nd homicide of the year, and the second shooting of 2006 outside the club.
And an Arizona man is in custody after throwing "an object" that resembled "a toothpaste tube" at Barry Bonds at yesterday's Giants-Diamondbacks game in Phoenix. If you're going to throw a syringe, pal, make sure it actually looks like a syringe!
