SFist Whines & Dines: Treat Street Cocktails

cruise.jpgNormally our Sunday mornings are spent walking along the beach at Crissy Field looking out on the Bay and wondering who those people are on the boats and what San Francisco looks like from the water.

Finally, those questions will be answered thanks the San Francisco SPCA and its second annual “Dog Day on the Bay” Sunday May 7. The event is a fund raiser for the SPCA and includes a gourmet Sunday champagne brunch for dogs and their guardians with live entertainment, a silent auction and a pet adoption area. This is not an April Fools joke. It is a great cause and you can reserve your spot at Hornblower Cruises.

It doesn’t get much better than that. The same could be said for our next dog friendly bar – Treat Street Cocktails at the corner of 24th and Treat St. To start with, how could you have a better name for a dog bar than “Treat”? Honestly. And it lives up to its name – this bar is one overstuffed doggie bed short of canine Valhalla.

Treat Street is awesome - water dish, free popcorn and get this, a bubble gum machine converted to sell dog treats. You read that right. You just put two coins in some slot and turn the dial and a handful of dog treats comes rushing down a spout. We can't remember getting so many treats from strangers in one evening. The bartender didn't even mind when we sniffed behind the bar. No outdoor area but otherwise it will be hard to top this dog friendly experience - 4 St. Bernards.
