Bay Area Blog Pulse

IMG_0850.jpg[Ed. note: we were out of the office yesterday afternoon, so the blog pulse is a day late this week. Sorry!]

We start this week with a pictoral ode to our fair city, compounded with a pretty scathing dissection of Windows Live Search functionality, courtesy of the uber-tech-photohound, Thomas Hawk. There's more interesting San Francisco photos over at Elaine Castillo's Flickr feed. It's very much a family photo album of the first year of her life, 1975, but there's some great shots of 70s San Francisco. Thanks to Metroblogging San Francisco for the link.

And if that seems like a lot of pictures to you, head over to Daily C, where Courtney documents the 1,000th picture of her on the web. Unfortunately, Jane's latest picture isn't so celebratory. Head on over and give her some virtual chicken soup.

We feel guilty for flogging his site so often, but until we find a better citizen journalist, we still have to point you over to Civic Center, where he shows off his pics of the sculpture outside, and dubious liquid matter inside, the SFPL Main Branch. His post includes our favorite understatement of the week, that the parks near the library have become "ground zero for some of the craziest street people in the neighborhood." Don't believe that's understatement? Yeah, head on over to Mz. Meg's Baseball and Brioche for Crack Stories, Part I. That's right, Part I. She's dishing out the Roman numerals, and we have no doubt the sequels will be worth it. She also gets respect for hand strength and pickle love.

The crazies exist outside the Bay Area, too, though, and it appears they mainly wear navy blue suits. We thank Sparky for giving us great tips on how to deal with them. Meet Mr. Tomorrow when he comes to town later this week.

Having long been a devotee of the comic book, from Secret Wars to Girl Genius Online and all the mutants, underwear perverts, trolls, fascists and autobiographers in between, we still somehow managed to get through college, get married and secure gainful employment, so it's never even occurred to us to do anything other than laugh at articles about comics "new-found" respectability. Now, thanks to Edward Champion's post, we can deconstruct them, laughingly.

We end with Jasmeet's new project, Overheard In the Classroom. So far Sonoma State is making a very respectable (or is that dubious) showing.
