We were wondering why it was so easy to get a parking place in the Mission last night when we remembered that all the cool people are at SXSW. Cool people like SFist Krissy, who enjoyed the calm before the SXSW Music storm with a beer in a near-empty club, and SFist Jackson, who reveled in the fact that, apparently, all bars in Austin have free WiFi.

As for us, we'll just bask in the reflected cool of Austinist's SXSW coverage.

So many parties! Austinist is giving away tickets toThursday's Diesel party, but also wants you to go to the Festival pre-party at the Peacock -- only one in a host of parties going on tonight.

In film, they just went to see The Last Western, Shorts #1, and Live Free Or Die. Yay on the first two, nay on the second.

In music, they profile local band Zykos, which is performing, like, 50 times over the next few days.
