truecrime.jpgAshlyn Dyer, the morning jogger struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Presidio on March 2, was taken off life support over the weekend. Doctors say that if Dyer had received immediate help after the accident, she might have pulled through. Authorities speculate that the driver might have been blinded by the morning sun. Dyer was found in a ditch on the side of the road. She had no ID on her but rescuers were finally able to identify her from her iPod. Her family has started a fund for neurological research in her name. Our thoughts go out to Dyer's friends and family.

In Richmond, police broke up a hammer fight between six men. Two details of note in the report: "Those responsible for instigating the brawl apparently fled the scene when they heard sirens," and "alcohol was a factor in the fight." Really.

And in Oakland, someone broke into mayoral candidate Ignacio de la Fuente's office on 17th and Telegraph last Friday and stole two laptops. G. Gordon Liddy, what's your alibi?
