Food Blogger Roundup

ln2_icecream2.jpgThe food blog world is aflutter over the biggest awards ceremony of the year. The Oscars? Don't be silly. It's all about the food, baby.

The 2006 Independent Food Festival and Awards are open source awards, only with taste buds, not coding. And just as Firefox kicks Redmond's butt, the winners of these awards are worth seeking out. Some are national, some are local, all are good.

Those golden statues barely got a mention in the food-o-sphere. Seemingly only Bruce Cole, editor of Edible San Francisco, deemed them worthy of talk and then only as a way to explain why you're better off cooking red meat than watching the red carpet. His technique sounds good, but would some pictures kill him?

As long as we're in meatlandia, let's just go all out: Bacon for dinner!

More meat (goat and crab), SFist Sam, and liquid nitrogen ice cream, after the jump.

And there's still more meat over at a post-modern bay area bites interview about how a chef managed to help her brother lose his goat virginity. We're sure that sentence just got us blocked in a dozen different countries' pr0n filters, but we promise it's not like that at all.

If you need some greens after all that protein, head over to Beck's N Posh [ed note: our very own SFist Sam's blog!], where you can play guess that veggie. It's simple, it's fun, it's a beautiful picture.

We can't get our blog reader to find Kiki's feed, but it's worth the surf over because this Dungeness Crab Noodle Soup ( Bánh Canh Cua) tastes delicious even through the screen, although the lack of instructions was a little weird. We're assuming you can't just throw it all in a pot and heat it up, right? Good Vietnamese cooking isn't that easy, right? Right?

When you're ready for dessert, and have your haz-mat license handy, check out Heidi over at 101 Cookbooks, who's playing with Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream.

Finally, to help fight off the food coma get your brain in gear at some classes. Alder over at Vinographyis about his experiences at the 4 day Symposium for Professional Wine Writers in Napa. Then duck on over to Noe Knit for their Chocolate Sundays event. Go ahead, no one will mind the melted chocolate on the scarf! But caveat lector: it takes place Sunday March 12th and is limited to only 8 people, so depending on when this is posted, it may already be full. Thanks to Culinary Muse for the link!
