Honk If You Can See Frank Chu

Concerned friend of SFist Camille wrote us to ask

I just realized this morning on my way to work that I have not seen Frank in like 2 weeks! What is the deal? Is he on vacation? Is the SFist investigative team on top of the situation? I must know!

Camille, we've spent sizable portions of the last two evenings shuttling between downtown Cingluar stores (sigh), so we made a point of keeping our eyes peeled for Frank as we stalked from store to store. No dice! Now we're worried, too!

How about you? Have you seen Frank Chu lately? Let us know in the comments, or, even better take a picture of him and send it over. We want proof of life!

Picture by Thomas Hawk. Has that guy ever taken a bad picture?

I saw him not too long ago on Union Square, right next to a guy handing out flyers promoting Scientology (the new center is just a few blocks away).
Both of them looked like aliens having taken human form to better assimilate us.

Saw Frank earlier this week near Montgomery & Market making his rounds as usual.

I saw Frank earlier this week and last. Once at the corner of 2nd and Market (his usual location) and once on Montgomery and Pine. When I do see him, it's between 5:30 and 6 PM (on my way home).

Can I just say that if one were to ask me who my favorite San Franciscan is, I wouldn't hesitate to say Frank.

He truly is our generation's Emperor Norton.

k.

I too saw Frank last week on Market near Stacey's on my way home... I think it was Wednesday. He looked a little ragged but in his usual FC spirit.

I saw him at 111 Minna last week. He was dressed to the nines and talking in tongues.

Frank was at Montgomery and Bush Thursday morning around 9am.

Guess I saw Frank last... he was at the House of Shields around 6.30p Thursday night. Big smile, he looked quite hale and hearty

I think a great question to ask would be what's the FARTHEST away from downtown you've ever seen Frank? I once saw him all the way out by Ocean Beach strutting his stuff. Classic!

I saw Frank around California and Montgomery on Thursday morning.

My all time favorite Halloween in the Castro costume was someone who dressed up like Frank. You immediatley knew who the locals were in the crowd.

I saw Frank last night at Kearny. He's in th FiDi during lunchtime usually.

Heh. I saw this guy last night at Montgomery and Market around 6:15 or so as I was making a break for some Boudin's. I had no idea he was a local demi-legend.

Wait, Frank was standing next to a Scientology advocate? Was he protesting? Xenu has no place in the 12 Galaxies!

I have been going by Market and Montgomery Streets on weekdays on a regular basis, around Powell and Market Streets on the afternoons. And the weekends I've been going to Fisherman's Wharf or Union Square too. This past week I've been filmed with Channel 5 Manny Ramos and NBC 11 Ethan Harps. And I plan to go to the St. Patrick's Day parade on Sunday too.

I now live in D.C. and miss Frank. D.C. could use Frank! The farthest I ever saw him was on BART one day at the Lake Merritt station.

I use to pass him everyday, though, on Market between 2nd and Battery on my way to the office. I especially loved his rantings during the height of the Clinton-Lewinsky scandal. Priceless.
