Despite our snippy attitude, we here at SFist are really softies at heart which is why we love volunteers. All kinds really, it doesn't matter. Whenever someone takes some of their own spare time to spend helping others, well, we're just big fans of that.

While we celebrate volunteers all year 'round, National Volunteer Week is officially April 23-29th. As part of this, The Volunteer Center will host its annual awards event "Hat's Off: A Celebration of Community Volunteers" on the 28th.

The awards ceremony is at 111 Minna (food and drinks!) and, frankly, for it to work they have to have people to give the awards to now don't they. That's where you come in: You can (and should!) nominate your favourite volunteer for one of four available awards.

To do so, get some info together and complete the form online. All submissions are due no later than Wednesday, March 8th at 5:00pm.

If you got moving, maybe one day you could win one of these awards too. We're just sayin'.
