The all-early a.m. Sunday edition
A man was shot to death at around 3:30 a.m. Sunday morning inside club 1015 Folsom. The crowd was at capacity to hear DJ Paul Van Dyk's set.
It's Hank Hill gone bad: a man in El Sobrante, wanted for threatening his brother with a hammer, was arrested after fending off the local authorities for about 7 hours early Sunday morning with a crossbow. When the cops finally busted into the house around 8 a.m., they were confronted by the man, who was wearing a motorcycle helmet and gas mask and waving around a lit propane tank. The cops, sensibly, retreated until firefighters came by.
And while all this was going on: two guys stopped by a convenience store in San Jose to buy beer around 2:30 a.m.. Apparently stores in California aren't allowed to sell alcohol after 2 a.m. When the guys were apprised of this fact, they pulled a gun on the clerk and grabbed a six-pack from the cooler. Get this, though -- they then paid for the beer, as well a couple of lottery scratcher cards. When asked, the SJPD said they didn't know if the lottery cards had won. "What if they did? They'd have to come back and collect. That'd be another story."
