Damnit, George, you stole one of my posts as I was about to mention the KFC being gone. I didn't even know it was going until I walked by there and didn't get that familiar scent of secret herbs and spices and grease. And like you, I never went there, but ooh that smell.....

Speaking of KFC, where'd the store on Valencia Street go!? Not that I ever ate there, but rather enjoyed the smell of biscuits wafting through the air whenever I walked by. If they made a perfume sent of that...

The problem is related to parents, I'm afraid - I watched a young mother on the 22-fillmore show her children how to stuff their mcdonalds wrappers/napkins/trash behind the bus seat (one of the sideways-y facing seats in the back of the bus) on a crowded bus in broad daylight. This is what we are up against - parents who actively teach their children to, well, leave it for someone else to clean up.

Unfortunately, the type of people, young and old, who frequent places like McDonalds and KFC are often the types who have no regard for themselves and their environment.

Many times I've seen them just walking down the street throwing their wrappers on the ground with no care in the world. Or if not walking down the street, throwing it out of their cars.

Perhaps they are too ignorant to care. I'm a true believer that there are genuinely stupid people who live in the world and that nothing can be done about it.

But the real problem isn't the fast food chains (the actual franchise owner is a small business person). The problem is that when you sell food for the cost of peanuts, you get monkeys as your customers.
