If we're done talking about Drew Barrymore's braless appearance at the Golden Globes last night, let's move on and see what TV has in store for us this evening.
We're pretty sure the premiere of "American Idol" at 8 p.m. on Fox will include fashion gaffes that will put Drew's Barrymores to shame. At least, we hope so. It takes more than bad singing to earn our scorn after sitting through countless seasons of "American Idol." These hopefuls better show up to the auditions wearing feather boas, chaps, and nothing else, or we might just have to turn the channel. Unless, of course, tonight's episode includes the auditions that were held at the Cow Palace. Another episode airs tomorrow.
Our excitement over the show "Love Monkey," which premieres tonight at 10 p.m. on CBS, was dampened a bit when we learned that the show would not include the presence of an actual monkey. Seems the title (which also comes from the Kyle Smith book it was based on) is a metaphor for someone who bounds from relationship to relationship, like a monkey jumping from vine to vine. When we heard that Tom Cavanaugh, formerly of NBC's "Ed," would be playing the love monkey, we were faced with the same dilemma we always face when it comes to watching anything starring Mr. Cavanaugh. See, he kind of reminds us of someone we know, in looks more than character when it came to "Ed," but now he's playing a character that sounds freakishly like the actual guy he reminds us of, and since we kind of don't like that guy he reminds us of, we don't know how we're going to be able to stand watching the show.
Of course, this is a dilemma that no one else will probably be facing, so we don't even know why we bothered to bring it up. Sorry. As for legitimate reasons to watch (or not watch), keep in mind that Cavanaugh does have a certain irrefutable charm about him, and on this show he plays a record exec who hopes to start his own label, which means if the show is a hit, you can expect plenty of guest appearances by real musical acts. Also, Jason Priestley of "90210" fame plays one of the love monkey's friends, which, depending on your tolerance for former 90s teen idols is either a good or a bad thing.

Braless or not, Drew Barrymore shines.
And so did her nipples.
But seriously folks. I love Drew Barrymore. I really do. And I appreciate the fact that her boobs don't reside somewhere around chin-level, like those of so many other Hollywood starlets. But that dress was doing her no favors...
Not only are Tom Cavanaugh and Jason Priestley in "Love Monkey", but so is JUDY GREER. I heart her. Larenz Tate is nice too.
I HATED the book Love Monkey so much that I cannot ever possibly watch this show. HATED.
Eve, do tell. I was tempted to read it, but would love to hear why it's not worth the time.
JUDY GREER!!!! Why didn't you say so? Ahhh, we loves Deadly Girl (from The Specials), yes we do. And she was swell in Arrested Dev. too.
I will watch crap TV so long as there is a Judy Greer lurking. And since it doesn't interfere with "The Shield" at 9 p.m.
Indeed, Judy Greer has the platonic-friend-who-should-so-obviously-be-the-guy's-actual-girlfriend role...
