Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! Did you know that America's "first black Millionaire" was Yerba Buena resident Alexander Leidesdorff? Eric Meyerson got a chance to see Nobel Laureate Jimmy Carter at a recent book signing. And the wheels of the criminal justice system continue to squeak, with this harrowing tale of dealing with the Fremont courts.

We'll take a trip around the blogosphere for a minute. Jon "PJ" Swenson at the Sharkspage does a great rundown of hockey blogs and podcasts from around the world. Susan Mernit points to a recent fracas amongst sex-positive Blogger.com writers who have seen a rash of hacker attacks. Om Malik is amazed at the rise in popularity of posting video content, but wonders what this means for enforcing copyright on the part of sites like YouTube (with lots of free Bollywood flicks to download as examples).

We're covering Sketchfest, but we hope that the venues aren't overselling capacity like Cobb's Comedy Club. Because we occassionally point out that there's life outside of the blogosphere, congratulations to Adam Metz who's too busy preparing for his nuptials to post. And Mark Pritchard muses on satire and the power of personal experience in the wake of the controversy at the SF Weekly.
