SFist Watches: TV This Week

We really got a kick out of reading everyone's TiVo (or plain old TV) top tens last week. The presence of "Lost" and "Arrested Development" on many of the lists was pleasing, while the avid devotion to "Dancing With the Stars" continues to perplex some of us at SFist. Perhaps we'll tune in to Fox's rip-off "Skating with Celebrities" next week instead, as it seems to have even more comedic potential (Todd Bridges on ice!)

This week sees the return of "Lost" (two hours on Wednesday--although that first hour is really just a clip show), for which we are suitably amped. But the show we're most anxious to see this week is actually one of those "good for you" TV programs: Country Boys, which premieres on KQED tonight at 9 p.m. on PBS's "Frontline." This three-part series (two hours air tonight, tomorrow, and Wednesday) from director David Sutherland--perhaps best-known for another PBS documentary, The Farmer's Wife--was filmed over the course of three years and follows the lives of two teenage boys living in the Appalachian hills of Kentucky, and examines how these two kids do their best to overcome their impoverished and dysfunctional homes.

The series is already raking in the rave reviews, but we're just looking forward to getting into a "reality" series about...reality! Those with digital cable will have ample opportunity to catch the show, as it is being rerun numerous times on channels 189 and 190. Those who are both digitally deprived and unwilling to sacrifice viewing the other programs which will be airing at the prime hours between 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday (no judgments!) can actually watch the entire series online when it become available tomorrow.
