Bay Area Blog Pulse

The local blogosphere seems to have shaken off their collective hangover, so lots to discuss today. Om Malik pours cold water on the Google PC rumor, points toward Google Video and says "getting warmer." An ever bigger rumor is that Microsoft might swallow Yahoo whole. Meanwhile, Evil Signtist Courtney lauds Google for shouting out Louis Braille on his birthday. And Nivi asks that you "Donate to Wikipedia if You Love Your Mom." Alternately, donate if you love your therapist or your best friend Jim Beam.

Suck.com was down, but is no longer out. Former Suckster Ana Marie Cox has decided to quit Wonkette so she can write more novels, surprising John at the Legal Reader. Might also come as a surprise to Edward Champion, who points out that the reviews of her book Dog Days are, ahem, mixed. Luckily, it means angry journalists can stop throwing rhetorical rocks at her so bloggers can blissfully continue doing "Database Journalism."

Oenophile Alder Yarrow encourages San Franciscans to take advantage of the Dine About Town prixe-fixe dinners this month. Make it a night out with your cutie and take a stroll around the SFMOMA guided by "Artcasts." Patrick Rodriguez pens a memoir of his days as an underage drinker, or at least what he can remember about it, while Eric Meyerson has some good advice for bad landlords.
