SFist Mary-Lynn Remembers 2005

Am I the only one who found 2005 to be one of the fastest years on record? I can't even believe it's over - I remember it just starting. I didn't even get everything on my list done! Here's a more leisurely 2006!

Politics - Voters rejecting the Governor was awesome but I'm still waiting for something, anything, to take down Bush. What the hell will it take?!

Federal Government Department - We know more about FEMA now than we ever wanted to, don't we? Poor performance of the year award to those losers.

Favourite Post - Gavin Newsom's number in Paris Hilton's hacked Sidekick. My Sidekick has nothing nearly so interesting in it.

Favourite Cares Moment - I wrote about the Princess Project earlier this year and then later spent a day at one of their dress giveaways and had an amazing time. I can't wait to do it again this year.

Weather - Last year I named "Hurricanes" as the weather phenomenon of 2004. I never normally think of myself as an early adopter...

Sports - Hockey's back. Eh, whatever. My affections have turned towards the other sport of my homeland - curling! Less exciting, perhaps, but with more booze.

Daily Show Alumni - Good: Steve Carell - I loved The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Bad: Stephen Colbert - The Colbert Report is just too much for me.

Retro TV - I am five years too late and am just getting into the Gilmore Girls. So... who wants to lend me their DVDs? Also, full disclosure: I started watching Guiding Light religiously. They're very cutting edge with their show's daily podcasts.

City - I visited Paris this year and then there were riots. Coincidence?

Religion - Wow, that Scientology really is freaky, huh?

Long-Awaited Album Release - The High Cost of Low Living from the Hugh Dillon Redemption Choir.

Hope for 2006: Gavin gets a girlfriend. Think of the stories! The photo manipulations! The glee!
