SFist Watches: Movies This Weekend

One of our fondest slacker memories was killing time with our dear friend Brian, waiting for Aeon Flux on Liquid Television. And Charlize sure looks purty in the trailers for the live action version, doesn't she? So why do we feel so "meh" about it?
We're way more excited about the Samurai series starting tonight at the Balboa. Tonight the great Harakiri, opens with the evening showings featuring introductions from Patrick Galloway, author of Stray Dogs and Lone Wolves: The Samurai Film Handbook.
We're also looking forward to the great Roxie lineup of New York Doll and All Dolled Up. And what a deal: if you buy a ticket to New York Doll, you get a half-priced ticket to All Dolled Up. That's a lot of New York Dolls documentary fun, for which you can prep by reading the SFist Interview with Doll director Greg Whiteley.
We can't find a link to this event, but we've also gotten a few email on the free screening of Redemption: The Stan Tookie Williams Story at the Eastside Cultural Center in Oakland, (510.533.6629) to confirm before you head over there for tonight's 7 p.m. screening of the film, which will be followed by a community discussion on the death penalty.
How about you? What are you going to see this weekend? Let us know in the comments!
