SFist Watches: Movies This Weekend

Sure, we're interested in the new Harry Potter, but are anxious about going to see it in the theater, for the reasons SFist Jon and our wonderful commenters laid out here. Have you gone to see it already? How was the crowd? Any tips or insights you have would be welcomed in the comments.

Even for those of us living Potter-free there are still a lot of interesting options this weekend. For example, the acclaimed locally-produced Quality of Life moves to the Roxie this weekend, so all of you who didn't want to see it at the Galaxy no longer have that excuse.

The Balboa's Sin in Soft Focus series continues through this weekend, and tonight is extra cool, with Emily Worth Lieder, author of the book Becoming Mae West discussing Mae West and her effect on the Production Code's tightening censorship in advance of the 8:40 screening of She Done Him Wrong.

The SF Film Society's New Italina Cinema festival also continues through November 20 at the Kabuki. Our top pick is I Truly Respect You, a " sexy but scathing look at corporate downsizing" which plays tomorrow night at 9:30 p.m. (We'll refrain from comment on the fact that the closing night party is at Pasta Pomodoro!?!) Get your tickets here.

How about you? Let us know what you're gonna see this weekend in the comments!
