SFist Cares ... About These Events

Looking back on 2005, we think the year could be described as "The Year The Earth Fought Back". Starting out with late 2004's tsunami, through the summer of hurricanes - culminating in Katrina - and then the south asia earthquake... well, we don't want to jinx the rest of the year but we hope there isn't anything left for her to throw at us. While we sit around waiting, let's not forget that there are survivors of these things who have a long road ahead of them. We're glad to be able to tell you about two local events this coming Saturday to let you keep the giving going.
For those of you in the east bay: "Beyond Borders: A Benefit for the Victims & Survivors of the South Asian Earthquake". Local performers will be taking the stage Berkeley's Wheeler Auditorium starting at 7pm. We're a sucker for a sitar and hope you are too! One hundred percent of the money raised will go to frontline organizations aiding the people still suffering in that area. Tickets are available online for $10, $25 and $50.
If you're in the city: "STORM: Raising funds for Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together" is also on Saturday, at 8pm at Fort Mason' Herbst Pavilion. STORM takes a more fashion and arts approach but looks like just as much fun. You don't need to buy tickets in advance, but there is a minimum $10 donation at the door and all of the money raised goes to Habitat for Humanity and Rebuilding Together.
