With only a few days left before the Very Special Election, the Governor hit the campaign trail hoping for one of those idyllic campaign weekends where all the crowds are friendly, the energy crackling, and the pictures good. So he hopped on a bus, got a visit from everybody’s favorite Republican, John McCain, and spoke to reporters about how much he was looking forward to getting everyone in the state together to fix the state’s problems.
And what did he get for his troubles?
On Saturday, at a rally in San Diego, Warren Beatty and his wife, Annette Bening tried to crash one of his rallies, along with a crowd of protestors. They had been trailing the Governor on their own Magical Mystery Bus, the "Truth Squad Bus" and followed the Governor to a rally being held at an airplane hangar in San Diego. When they tried to get in, they were given the "sorry, closed party" by a hastily assembled squad of the Governor's aides who told Beatty that he wasn't allowed into the rally because he wasn't on the list to get in. Just change political rally to Koi and it's just like Paris and Nicole. Which is kind of scary when you think about it because the way things are going, SFist will someday be writing about Lindsey Lohan leading a protest against Governor Wilmer Valderrama.
Anyways, this led to a hilarious exchange in which Beatty tried to get in, finally agreeing to hang out in the parking lot outside the rally where he listened to speaker after speaker dis on Beatty's career. Said one speaker: "Dick Tracy was a terrible movie…that movie was cinematic abuse." To which Beatty said, "yeah, and what do you call Kindergarten Cop?" To which another flunky responded "oh yeah, well how many movies did you make that grossed over $100 million domestically" to which Beatty responded "well, how many movies did the Governor write, star and direct in that was nominated for 'Best Picture'" and well, you get the point.
Said a supporter of the Governor about the whole fracas involving Beatty: "This is real L.A!''
Also, at one of those town hall meetings that Arnie's been doing lately, a bunch of anti-Arnie protestors snuck in and managed to turn the town hall meeting into an Anti-Arnie rally by asking a bunch of pointed questions. For which the TV station apologized to the Governor for allowing an actual debate to break out.

Actually, those three Democratic Party operatives didn't "sneak in".
They were invited in by the company that was charged with creating a balanced, representative audience.
That would be balanced if there had been three Republican Party operatives invited to ask questions. Needless to say, there were not.
And, it would be representative if there were over a million Democratic Party operatives in California.
And, the audience wasn't told that those three were operatives.
Quite a Sovietski move, but it backfired: Arnold got the better of all three.
More on the special election starting here.
