When The Lights Go Down In The City

So many of our favorite artists are coming to town this week, including John Vanderslice, Feist, Orenda Fink and Metric. There are also some strange celebrity bands coming through, the SF Jazz Festival is happening, and giveaways are back!

Pixel RevoltSan Francisco's own pride and joy John Vanderslice [read the SFist interview] recently released his fifth full length record in as many years -- let's hear it for that indie rock work ethic! He's also working hard at touring, playing a show almost every night since he left at the end of September. We'll be at the Independent to welcome him back this Saturday, and you should be too. In the meantime, we're giving away a copy of his latest album, PIxel Revolt. (Contest ends 11/9)

BabyAlso playing this week is the Detroit Cobras, a band who takes Motown and 50's R&B classics and remakes them in their own rootsy garage rock revivalist way. Plus, vocalist Rachel Nagy knows how to roll you. Enter to win their latest release Baby. (Contest ends 11/9)
