SFist Rants: Blue Angels

Here we are playing the old curmudgeon again -- but, seriously, we can't stand being buzzed by those super loud, super scary Blue Angels as they practice their feats of derring-do around the oversized office bulding we work in. Last year we were spared their scare tactics, as they didn't come around for Fleet Week. This year, it looks as though we'll be hiding under our desk again every time they thunder by, just like we did in 2003.
We're not afraid to admit it -- loud jets have always scared the crap out of us, and 9/11 certainly didn't help that fear.
The Blue Angels are undoubtedly amazing. We have even enjoyed their performances more than once--when seated, in a proper venue, at an air show. We just take exception to their rather obstrusive Fleet Week marketing scheme, wherein they buzz office buildings, spread noise pollution, and create general looky-loo-style havok.
Not that it'll shield us from them entirely, but we're thinking about taking Thursday off from work, as to cower under the bed in our basement unit rather than under our work desk on the 15th floor, oh so close to the sky.
