To live in the Bay Area is (frequently) to be able to count more than one aspiring filmmaker in one's circle of acquaintance. The next time you're at some dinner party/Zeitgeist get-together/orgy at the Power Exchange and someone starts blabbing on about their unfulfilled creative vision, remind them of the opportunities available to them to get said vision out there to the masses.

For example, the 2006 San Francisco Women's Film Festival is presently accepting entries, and will continue to do so until December 1, 2005. Guidelines are here, but what you really need to know is that the Festival "accepts films and video of all lengths and genres: narrative, documentary, experimental and animation." Needless to say, all submissions must be directed or co-directed by a woman.

You still have time to submit to the 2006 San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival, which has a deadline of October 7, 2005. Their submission guidelines are here. Sumbission fee is $35, but can you put a price on (potential) fame? We didn't think so.

The 2006 San Francisco International Film Festival is accepting "narrative features, documentaries, shorts, animation, experimental, youth-produced works and television productions on film, video and digital media which have been completed after January 1, 2005 may be submitted.
