SFist Watches: Movies This Weekend

Oh good god. There are a lot of mainstream releases to see this weekend, most of which have been so incessantly advertised that we're struggling to care. Since we already saw Hellbent, we'll probably go see Roll Bounce, because, dude, 1970's competitive roller skating is something we just can't get enough of. Go see it at any local megaloplex.

But enough with the big(ish) budget crap, what else do we have going on this weekend?

The Castro hosts the Arab Film Festival all weekend. This year's festival includes over 30 narrative, short, and documentary features, showcasing the diverse nature of Arab cinema.

SFist Rita saw Pop-aganda: The Art and Crimes of Ron English back at DocFest and English has shown here since then. It's opening at the Red Vic tonight, which must be a huge deal since we've gotten 5 press releases on it from different PR and marketing folks. Pop-aganda, indeed!

The Roxie hosts theFilm Society of Lincoln Center’s Latinbeat Film Festival from tonight to September 28. Featuring both documentary and narrative features, the festival was curated Cord Dueppe, Marcela Goglio and Inés Aslan of Lincoln center, which then digitally distributed the film to theaters around the country.
