Stuff To Do If You're Bored

Saturday, our favorite cover band, Chronic Town has a totally hectic schedule, with a 10 a.m. performance at Alameda's Peanut Butter Jam outdoor stage. That night they join Mandonna (that is the best Flash intro we've seen in a long time) at Slim's for even more REM-inspired mayhem.

Sunday at 3 p.m. we're gong over to the Thee Parkside for It's a Free Country Sunday, which is, (you're so smart) no-cover Country, Bluegrass, and Americana music.

Monday we're so torn! We could head over to the First Baptist Church for the Isn't it About Time for Green Design? seminar, where "panelists will discuss the meaning of green design, its affordability, and existing certifications/standards, while considering what other cities are doing, what San Francisco's recent projects are and it’s plans to build greener buildings"? That runs from 7-9, so it totally conflicts with Funny But Mean at the Magic Theatre, a sketch comedy group that has been geting raves (and happens to contain life-long friend of SFist Jason Frazier). It's like Sophie's Choice!

Tuesday we're going to Ask a Scientist about cancer at The Bazaar Cafe, where we'll drink a yummy Italian soda and hear Dr. Martin McMahon (is there a "Men of UCSF" calendar? if not, Dr. McMahon is making us think that there should be) explain to us new methods in cancer treatment and detection.

Wednesday, we're headed down to San Jose's Improv for the Battle of the Bay which is close as we can get to the San Francisco Comedy School (we can't go back there because we defaulted on our student loans). Show up with 10 bucks and "two items" (is this prop comedy?) to get in and see local comics competing for cash, prizes, and gigs.
