We Read The Weeklies
![]()
Last week's winner, the SF Weekly: Tommy Craggs, like Tony Toni Tone, has done it again! This week, he uses the Microsoft Word auto-summarizer to read last week's interminable Sean Penn in Iran articles from the Chron! Could it be that Mr. Craggs heard our desperate cries for help? In other news, Matt Smith hates on Chris Daly's Rincon Hill deal, the Infiltrator pretends to Christian rock, and the cover article's about heavy metal Thor. Savage Love: you know, if you start a letter to Dan with "I'm straight, I'm smart, I'm funny, and I'm hot," you kind of get what you deserve.
Next: the Metro! RIP, Bob Moog. The war on terror seemed a little overblown in Lodi. Spongebob Squarepants at Great America! Cover: San Jose gang war. And Secret Asian Man eats your hate up like love.
The Guardian and the East Bay Express after the jump, plus the pick of the week!
The Guardian: Anger, anger! The Guardian seems to be the only media outlet that's found any evidence that the Village Voice Media may be buying out the New Times (the SF Weekly's publisher). Hey, that was not very nice to reveal that the Weekly loses $4 million a year, SFBG! Abortion politics and the question of fetal pain. The sex columnist reveals a dislike of puppets and takes a strong stance on scat play (no means no). Cover article: queer graphic artist Justin Hall. And the Sonic Reducer goes to a sex-wicca event.
The East Bay Express: The cycle of violence in Richmond. Why don't you like cricket? Cover article: Muralists. I Like Eating checks out new wave Asian tapas in Emeryville (sounds awesome!). And trying out for American Idol.
Pick of the Week: Eh, we'll give it to the EBX, even though we still don't like cricket very much (and even though everyone's talking about the SFBG's article about the Village Voice-New Times merger). You can't win 'em all for the Weekly, Tommy Craggs!
