Black Rock City Weather Report

mtaluc.jpg For those that are about to burn, we weather you. Don't be fooled by the Gerlach weather reports, highs and lows are well above the reported mid 70s. Our advanced weatherists reported Sunday as "about 95 or so by day ... perfect playa weather. It was warm in the evenings, say 78 or so, stayed in the 68-72 range until 2am, then into the low 60s." Tuesday morning, however, saw pre-dawn temps in the high 40s so bring the insulated klown gear for sheezy.

To see realtime and recent temp, rain, cloud cover and wind historical data look no further than the Black Rock Station and for forecasts, the closest to best is the Nat'l Weather Service's Gerlach report.

Don't be skimping on the stakes and ropes and use them with extreme prejudice upon arrival. Overnight wind speeds surpassed 50mph the last two nights, with continued whip-ups above 40mph for extended periods. Daytime wind speed is averaging in the teens and due to all the vehicle movement, dust laden winds will blow throughout the event.

This year's weather bugaboo has got to be rain. Forecasts call for zero percipitation. But the whispers of rain abound and considering The \<>/ Org categorically refused to consider contingency plans if heavy rains led to standing water like it did just after the event ended in 1998, we're packing the foul weather santa suits for sure. *<|:-O ~ho!
