Get Ur Geek On

Oh, so much geekery, we're gonna do this bullet-style. Shall we get started?

  • Jeb Bush dropped by EA's Tiburon studios and was treated to a simulation of himself in Madden 2006. Sadly, he's not in the real game, so you can't lay him or Dubya out with a virtual Ray Lewis.
  • Kevin Smokler points us to CNET's list of the top ten dot-bombs. Thankfully, we didn't work for any of them, so you can't blame us.
  • In Kutztown, Pennsylvania, 13 students are being charged with felony criminal trespass for hacking the iBooks that Apple customized for their district. Their teachers and administrators are better at calling the police than keeping their passwords secret, apparently.
  • While this site will eventually help you find free wireless around town, 70% of Americans feel that mooching wireless Internet should be a crime. Why do we think the poll group are teachers and administrators from the Kutztown, PA school district?
  • Apple is looking to make their new iPod scroll wheels in-house because they're paranoid about IP theft and leaks. Funny, because they were beaten to the punch on the patent to the iPod's software interface.
  • Here's an interesting study on blog readership -- but what joker came up with the category 'hipster blogs?' Apparently, that means Gawker, BoingBoing and Fark among others.
  • Dark days for Google -- first, they totally overreact to an article on CNET. Now Yahoo adds insult to injury, reporting their search tool has nearly twice as many sites indexed as Google.
  • Last night, the smart kids explained 'Web 2.0.' We explain it as, "Remember all that stuff they promised you in 1995? Well, it actually works now."
