Wednesday: The New Thursday

Actually, rather a lot to choose from this week. Our picks:
Velvet Underground disciple, rumored progenitor of punk and all-around wacky nut of a singer-songwriter Jonathan Richman will be at the Makeout Room tonight, and if you can't get in, he'll be there tomorrow, too. Starts at nine, and it's only $10! Somebody request 'Ice Cream Man' or 'My Little Kookenhaken' for us.
For the enterprising snob, or those who would mock them, you might want to think about crashing the Junior League of San Francisco Happy Hour from six to nine at Vino Venue. Find out what the Membership Activities Committee is up to besides planning the 'how the other 0.1% lives' tour of Sea Cliff homes in October. We know, it's all for a good cause -- and by good cause we mean an excuse to wear that Prada dress!
There's another 'Painted Rooms' at the Hotel Des Arts. Go pose for Jonathon Keat's camera -- though you'll have to stand there for quite a while if you want to make an impression during the 100 years it's set to expose! Other delights of light and shadow include Lawrence of Arabia (an SFist favorite) at the Castro and Napoleon Dynamite at the Potrero Hill Walk-in Movie. Or you can microwave a dang quesadilla!
