SFist Cares ... About Breasts

You know what SFist loves? Tits. There. We said it. Love 'em! And we're quite sure many of you love them, too. So we want to remind you that this weekend is the San Francisco edition of the Avon Breast Cancer walk. We've got a couple of friends walking in the SF walk this year and one super crazy one who's walking in all of them across the country. That's some committment to boobs.
It's probably too late for you to sign up for the walk this weekend, though it's definitely not too early to start training for next year. And it's always time to send... money, money, money! If you want to donate to a specific walker, you can look them up there (or shoot SFist a note and we'll introduce you to our super-cool friends!). Don't let not having friends (walking, we're not implying anything) stop you.
Breast cancer affects women as we know, but 1% of those suffering from this cancer are men. We don't want to cause anyone any stress, but my word, the State Cancer Profiles from the National Cancer Institute are not a fun way to spend an evening if you're prone to health paranoia. Though we are happy to report that the rates in San Francisco country are both below the US average and falling.
They're still looking for volunteers to help out with this weekend. If you were planning to sit on your butt but don't think you can go to the other extreme and walk a marathon, this might just be the happy middle ground you're looking for. Certainly, the participants would love for you to cheer them on. Yay, breast cancer walkers, yay!
Nipple tweaking image (it's educational!) from the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center. Remember to check your breasts (you can recruit a friend to help, it's so much more fun that way).
