We Read The Weeklies
First of all -- congrats to the EBX and the Weekly for winning 2005 AltWeekly awards! (The North Bay Bohemian in Sonoma won some awards too.) The EBX won an honorable mention for their article about la Nuestra Familia and Matt Smith came in second in the political column category for three articles about building politics.

Awright, onto this week. Last week's winner, the Bay Guardian. Pride issue! Tim Redmond reminisces about someone who stole his jacket in 1984-85. Tom Ammiano's feelings are hurt about not getting to MC the pride parade for KRON. Aw, come on, kitten-saving KRON! Tommy A.'s hilar (even if he never wrote us back about his iPod). Cover article: SF could be gay-friendlier (rent is too high). We feel like Lynn Rapoport's made this argument before (not that it's not true, of course). But hey -- she says she reads SFist, so it's all good! (for those of you visiting us in an attempt to find the Gavin drum-circle photograph she alludes to, it's here, from 1115 and flickr). Asexuals: We shouldn't enjoy mocking them. SFist Jackson makes a triumphant second appearance in the pages of the SFBG! And Rize is gonna rule. There's also a Lit section (gay themed), but, come on, who's reading the Lit section this weekend?
After the jump, the Weekly, the EBX, and the official running tally of who's leading in the tooth-and-nail Weekly of the Week competition!
The Weekly: Cock-block synonyms! Yoikes! The winningest Matt Smith on obscure contracting rules. Angry Infiltrated producers for Lie Detector! Hee! Defensive much? Meanwhile, Harmon keeps on truckin', and becomes a Minuteman, just like the governor would want. Cover article: Heklina's Pride Guide. Louis XIV blows, and OK Then gets baked with Madlib. Savage Love: tips for teen gays and lesbians.
The EBX: A genius San Francisco-based dream cartoon. Sex ed is hard to teach. Horse acupuncture. (Horse acupuncture?) Cover article: making the pill over the counter. And absolutely no pride coverage whatsoever!
And here's your unofficially-tabulated results! We swear we didn't make this up (but we can't promise 100% accuracy in our tabulation): as of this week, the Weekly, the Guardian, and the EBX are all tied at 12 wins apiece, and the Metro comes in with only 3. It's not really the Metro's fault, though, we can only manage to pick it up sporadically.
So.... who's going to pull ahead with the lead this week? Okay, okay, we're going to give it to the Guardian, who now leads by one! All that pride coverage! Plus, we're glad Tim Redmond found his jacket!
