--Arnie kicked off the special election campaign with the traditional scaring of the old folks. The claim this time? If the three resolutions he's backing don't pass, Prop. 13 will have to be revoked and all the old folks will then have their property taxes increased so high that they would have to sell their homes for millions and millions of dollars.

--Two weekends ago saw the first meeting of the San Francisco People's Organization. The organization is an attempt for all the various disparate progressive orginizations to come together, unite, and hammer out a common agenda. Naturally, there are already grumblings about the organizations' inability to adress the concerns of everyone as seen in the recent debate in the past several issues of the Bay Guardian. We wonder how long it will be before somebody goes and forms the People's Organization of San Francisco.

--The Board of Supervisors unanimously passed a resolution opposing the construction of a coal plant. In Nevada. The reason for their interest? Because the coal plant is near Black Rock Nevada, the home of Burning Man. Can't say the Board doesn't know how to suck up to their constituents.
