SFist Cares ... About Immigrants

immigrant.jpg
SFist spent the weekend in the motherland which always gets us to thinking about immigration. It's a tough haul to make it through the bureaucracy to become an American citizen, and that doesn't even touch on some of the experiences that those in refugee situations have been through before even putting pen to paper.

The International Institute has nearly 90 years of experience in helping immigrants to the U.S. through the process - both the paperwork and the day-to-day realities of living in a new country.

Of course, this goodness doesn't happen without some dollars being thrown around. Clearly, that is where you come in and save the day.

And, not to get all Angelina Jolie on you, but a reminder that June 20th is World Refugee Day. Our "favourite" (and we do use that in a horribly ironic way) refugee crisis these days is in Chad where those displaced from the horrors of Darfur are ending up. So you can also get all international up in it and send something the way of the UN also.
