Political Junkie: the iRoss
It's never too late to let us know what you're listening to, local politicos! You may remember that we posted just last week something gently mocking our mayor's middle-of-the-road musical tastes, and that we'd also asked all the San Francisco supervisors what they were listening to on their portable music devices. But only Chris Daly had responded at the time we went to press! (in case you were wondering: the Replacements, the Boss, U2, and mainstream hiphop when blogging, among others). Is no one else running our city tragically hip enough to sport the white earbuds?
Well, fret no more! And we should have expected no less from the man who reps Amoeba Records' district -- we got a very nice note from everyone's favorite Greenie, Ross Mirkarimi! Check out what Ross is listening to, after the jump.
I just got my first iPOD (several weeks ago) and I haven't put any music on it yet -- a reflection of how little personal time I've taken; but I'm eager to organize my music selects, here are some quick thoughts: Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, U2, Coldplay, Bryan Ferry -Roxie, Specials, Untouchables, early Arlo Guthrie, Dionne Warwick, Dire Straits, Rolling Stones, Joe Jackson, Beatles, Bob Dylan, Velvet Underground, Fine Young Cannibals, old Lenny Kravitz, old Elvis Costello, Talking Heads, B.B. King, The Who, early Pink Floyd, Chaka Khan, Sly and Family Stone, early Eric Clapton/Cream, The Police, early David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, CSN&Y, The Doors, Eric Burdon, Nina Simone, Cranberries, Nirvana, Eminem, early Kiss,Temptations, and: a large range of R&B, Funk, Soul, Ska, Old/new Rock, Various Hip Hop, mucho Jazz, and Classical but no country, not much heavy metal, and no pop or fake made-up bands music...too many good ones to list.
Good luck with the uploading process, Ross! We bet Gavin'll let you use the iTunes program on his computer for all those Kenny Chesney-Zellweger songs he's got, if you ask nice.
Anyone else in local politics wanna tell us what they're listening to? C'mon, Jake McGoldrick is totally gettin' down to "Hollaback Girl." That s*** is bananas!
