Special "they've got a face just made for podcasting" edition.
Are you tired of all those "professional" talk radio personalities who have jobs spewing vitriol? Do you spend your days ranting into a microphone about how Michael Savage is a a racist wing-nut? Or Al Franken is an effete, godless wine-sipper? From the Internet to God's own ears, friend, because Podcasting is, officially, the new black.
First, in the Chronicle business section on Thursday, SFist found out that local AM station KYSY (um, we're wondering who at parent company Infinity Broadcasting approved the neoconstructivist site design) will be moving to an all-podcast format, and nothing says 'cutting edge' like AM radio. So if you're tired of feeding podcast updates via RSS to other twenty-something internerds, you can reach out to the "it'll never sound as good as my old tube radio" demographic.
If you'd rather, you can jump on board the Sirius Radio podcast channel bandwagon -- and your podcast may be introduced by a real, former, MTV VJ! Hott! You can pollute the airwaves with fart and naked chick jokes just like Robin, Howard and Baba Booey! The one trend we're noticing here is that it's all focused on talk radio -- which we listen to when we're, uh, forced to at gunpoint.
Hell, even Disney's getting in the game. Which means that podcasting never got the chance to be even half as cool as pirate radio. Sorry, folks.
