We Read The Weeklies

mn_destroy1.jpg
Back to our usual format, guys. We're still working on a pie chart of the weeklies, though!

Last week's this week, The Guardian. Yipes, a cover of people flipping you off! Hello, community standards and decency board? Angry letter from Markos of the Daily Kos. Public power's "close relative," community-choice aggregation. We have no idea what that sentence means. Follow up on Is Badlands Bad (now called And Castro For All). Paul Reidinger goes to Jack Falstaff. Cover article: blurbmania about the SF Int'l Film Fest movies. Mary Timony: she's not all about unicorns anymore!

The SF Weekly! Dog Bites tries out for Beach Blanket Babylon again. Cover article: challenges facing the SF Conservatory of Music. This Tuesday, Trannyfest is throwing its annual faux king contest (drag queens dress up like drag kings -- genius!). Blurbmania about the SF Film Fest movies. Meredith Brody goes to Jack Falstaff. And Mary Timony: not all about unicorns anymore!

The East Bay Express, the Metro, and -- hey, does anyone want to go to Jack Falstaff with us?

East Bay Express: A dream about evil John Cusack. John Cusack is probably totally like that! Bottom Feeder: a peeping tom in the Contra Costa community theater. Craigslist in outer space (they've already gotten a bunch of posts from people claiming to be from Mars and wanting to buy your IKEA furniture -- it's already been done, pal!). Cover article: Start your own pro baseball team. Cat show this weekend in Hayward. Our own beloved SFist Cheshire's going to be in a play! Slightly fewer blurbs about the SF Int'l Film Fest. No one goes to Jack Falstaff. No position taken on the Mary Timony/unicorn connection.

The Metro: Aw, come on, Merc News! They misidentified San Jose city counsel candidate Madison Nguyen as San Jose city counsel candidate Linda Nguyen (in an article about Linda Nguyen's ethical problems). Ang Lee, Spike Lee, who can keep them all straight? Interview with a South Bay creationist who's obsessed with giraffes. Cover article: are food banks enough to combat hunger? Pinot noir at the South Bay wineries. Ira Glass is in Redwood City this Friday. And a tribute to rock t-shirts.

Weekly of the Week: We're giving it to the Metro! Mostly because it doesn't contain acres and acres of teeny-tiny print about movies in the SF Film Festival (but also -- come on! Madison Nguyen and Linda Nguyen -- people, please!)
