SFist Raves: Ocean Beach

Many readers took issue with our rave about the N Judah, all of whom making points we acknowledge as valid. However, we'll brook no such argument when it comes to Ocean Beach, this week's Rave. (We're just kidding, we'll brook any and all arguments. Bring it on!)

Ocean Beach picture from this blog.

Well, first, it's the ocean, everybody loves the ocean, right? That said, I feel like many of us in San Francisco sort of forget about the ocean, because our beach is either a far walk downhill (Baker) or always cold and in a boring (to some) neighborhood. Their loss is our gain, as we walk along the edge of California with only a hearty other few bundled folks and their dogs.

So, second, you've got plenty of personal space for contemplation, running, and making sand castles. None of those crowded East Coach beaches here, Ocean Beach offers San Franciscans all the room that our apartments do not.

As we mentioned there are dogs. Cute dogs, bad dogs, dogs that want to be your pal. However, there's little or no dog crap, because, hello, ocean.

Finally, there are surfers. Did you ever notice that surfers change their clothes right there in the parking lot? Sure, the parking lot's not the beach, but a nice, sculpted, practically naked body is always a nice beginning or ending to your beach trip.

We see Ocean Beach every day as we leave our building, and every day we are reminded of how happy we are to live here. Come over to the west side of town to see what we mean. We look forward to being told how much the beach actually blows in the comments.
