SFist Wants You To Find A Friend: Prince, from Grateful Dogs

We're big animal lovers here in the Bay Area, as evidenced by the dedicated employees at many of ourarea humane societies and city shelters. In addition to these established animal care organizations are the many animal rescue organizations who save and seek homes for many of the animals that could no longer be accomodated by these societies and shelters. Here in our SFist bully pulpit, we realized that we have the chance to highlight some of these organizations and the animals that they are taking care of until someone -- maybe you -- takes them home. We'll be featuring a new adoptable pet every week (you can see the animal in question all week long on the right side of the site, below the ads), and we hope that you'll take the time to check him or her out. Isn't that a bit more rewarding than surfing the personals?
This week's adoptable pet comes to us from Grateful Dogs Rescue (full disclosure: Grateful Dogs saved our dog from certain death, so we're totally biased on how awesome they are), which was established to rescue San Francisco Animal Care and Control "unadoptable dogs," (shelter dogs not made available for adoption because they needed some medical help or some behavioral training) from euthenasia. Grateful Dogs volunteers foster and work with these dogs until they get "up to speed" enough to find an appropriate Bay Area adoptive family. This week's dog is Prince, a very handsome husky:
"Prince is a 5-6 year old neutered Husky with a wonderful disposition. His ideal situation is in an adults-only home with an adopter who has some experience with or knowledge of issues typical of this breed. For example, Prince is an escape artist who needs a very secure environment. He also can be cocky with other male dogs. This handsome boy will be an excellent companion for someone who truly appreciates the unique Husky spirit."
