Wah-huh?

Maybe Nancy Pelosi is getting a little too comfortable with the support in her district. Seems that while on the congressional delegation to attend the funeral for the Pope, she made nice with Democratic Party uber-villain Tom DeLay. The Hill reports that she even presented him with a cake for his 58th birthday on the flight back from Rome (in the same piece they note that Linda Ronstadt is invited to the wedding of Jerry Brown and Anne Gust). Now SFist is all about consensus and compromise and bi-partisan politics, but unless the cake was chock-full of laxatives, we don't see how getting friendly with a man who Ted Kennedy accused of trying to incite violence against judges and the who the Democratic party is going after for ethics violations is going to help. "Mmm, good cake. Lemme call George and ask him to back off Social Security." The only thing we can think is that would maybe anger the fundamentalist wing of DeLay's base. Are good Christians allowed to accept gifts from godless San Francisco Liberals?
