We Read The Weeklies

Last week's Pick of the Week, the Metro: The Metro wrote us all proud of their "download our issue in .pdf!" feature (thanks for getting in touch!) -- but guys! You don't have the latest issue up! We read the article about transgender Filipinos last week! So we'll make it a WRTW first and read the Metro in online form only. Prostitution in San Jose. A list of bad finger-related puns re the Wendy's chili incident. Cover articles: the South Bay restaurant scene (Wendy's article not included). And tweens act out scenes from Cesar Chavez's life. ....Man, it is just not the same reading a weekly online. We miss looking at the way everything is laid out!

Next up, the East Bay Express. We have to apologize for missing last week's issue because when we finally got a copy (late), the cover article on people selling online gaming assets on ebay was fascinating. Read it now! For this week, the dream cartoonist on trying to get your friends to make you a werewolf. Landlords who don't return deposits. Un-patenting DNA. Cover article: computer programs buying up tickets on Ticketmaster. And there was a lot of boobie at the Tommy Lee show. Savage Love: male chastity belts, incest?, and meeting people.

San Francisco weeklies and the pick of the week, after the jump.

The
Weekly, hating on the Bravery (doing the work of angels!). PUNI goes Onion on Kyrgyzstan. The Weekly painstakingly compiles a list of articles it got to before other media outlets (Hey, we were never credited for the Gavin <3 Paris story either!) What should have been the cover article but is not because, well, no one knows the band (called Okay): Lead singer has a severe case of Crohn's disease. The "cover article": the movie review of Sin City. Newsworthy?

The Guardian. Special list issue! (where to learn Mandarin, where to play bingo, revolutionary bookstores, vegan ice cream, etc.) Dan Leone confirms that s/he's in the process of going transgender. Can someone let us know what pronoun we should use for Leone in the future? And Sonic Reducer interviews the security guard assaulted at the Ian Brown show, and provides a clip (video) of the incident for those of you who like to watch violence. (sfbg.com administrator: the link to this week's Sonic Reducer is broken.)

Weekly of the Week: The Guardian! We love lists! (even though we're too frightened to actually watch the Ian Brown clip).
