SFist Cares ... About Laughing

wcrcOver.gif
Ha! Hee! Yeah, we need a laugh. Who doesn't? And we don't mean the normal April Fool's Day prankish jokes either. We want belly laughs. So we're looking towards the 7th Annual Funny Girlz show tomorrow night. "A Smorgasbord of Women's Humor" sounds like it might be just the ticket to stave off any mid-spring malaise.

Featuring comics Cathy Ladman, Shann Carr, Carla Clayy, Gretchen Rootes, Alana Devich (she has a blog!), Lisa Geduldig, the show is tomorrow, April 1st at 8pm at the Herbst Theater. And while we can only whole-heartedly advocate for laughs and fun, we're also thrilled that part of the proceeds of the event will go to the Women's Cancer Resource Center in Oakland.

The WCRC provides information and resources to women undergoing cancer treatments for the purpose of support and to help them better understand the choices they have. They are available to all women and those who are supporting women through their fight with cancer and pay particular attention to women in minority groups via services in Spanish, programs for low income women and support groups for African American women, among many other services. Their links page alone is a tremendous place to start.

If you can't make it to the show tomorrow, you have the usual options of supporting the WCRC by donating your time or (and?...!) your money to support this great organization. And if you're into fitness, keep an eye open for their annual Swim A Mile fundraiser held in the fall. SFist is purely a floating type so you're on your own with that one. But we'd be more than willing to cheer you on!

Tickets for 7th Annual Funny Girlz: A Smorgasbord of Women's Humor are available from City Box Office: 415-392-4400.
