SFist Rants: Unresponsive Representatives

Crickets -- that's all we're hearing from the representatives we contacted last week about the Terri Schiavo case. Well, that's not exactly true: we did ostensibly hear back from Senator Dianne Feinstein, but the canned response we got told us that no one in the office had actually read our message. A reply to her office's email got kicked back to us as undeliverable. Way to value the queries from your constituents, not to mention the press, DiFi.
Honestly, we didn't really expect to hear back from her. But we felt more confident we'd hear something from Senator Barbara Boxer, who has apparently been more interested recently in taking national stands. At the very least we thought we'd hear back from Congresswoman Barbara Lee. But we didn't.
If we didn't have full-time jobs over here, we'd call the offices directly instead of emailing them. But emailing them should be just as effective, if they offer the opportunity to do so. If they're not willing to be responsive via email, then they shouldn't offer the option. End of story.
Contact your representatives and demand to know where they stand on issues that are important to you. You're paying their salary, for crap's sake -- if your boss wanted an answer from you, you'd give it, wouldn't you?
