SFist Watches: Movies This Weekend

SFist isn't even gonna play like we think you have any other moviegoing options this week besides the SFIAAFF this weekend. We are talking about the biggest damn Asian film festival in the country, 131 movies in 11 days, so how can you say you'll be seeing anything else? Take a look at the schedule of screenings and buy now, shows are selling out even as we type this. We'll be covering Oldboy, and The Grace Lee Project tonight, Ethan Mao and Slow Jam King Saturday, and Cutie Honey Sunday. Don't all of those look so great? Come out and see them with us -- if you ask nice, we'll even share our Red Vines with you.

OK, fine. So, all you wanted to see was Fishbowls and Silent Years, and it's all sold out. What to do instead?
Well, why not hit the Red Vic and see Creature From The Black Lagoon as it was meant to be seen, in glorious 3-D? It's a creature, from a black lagoon, and he's messing with archeologists! In fact, it looks like he wants to hook up with one on 'em! Quelle scandale, in three dimensions!
Don't forget there's another Asian Film Fest in town, the Spring Asian Film Festival at the 4 Star. This weeks entry is director Takeshi Kitano's Dolls, three intertwining, tragically romantic stories.
As we look at the big budget crap being defecated on the public this week, we've never been happier to live in the cinematically alternative Bay Area. How about you? Are you still experiencing the early-spring cinematic doldrums, or do you have big movie plans this weekend? Let us know in the comments!
