Interview: Mrs. Chris Daly!!!

As it turns out SFist's favorite new political blogger has an awesome and incredibly game partner. We have to admit, not everyone enjoys the thought of having people running around wearing t-shirts (which you can buy here) with a title that is rightfully theirs emblazoned on them, but it turns out Sarah Low Daly is pretty darn cool about such matters. She's also incredibly nice about answering probing questions about what it's like to be married to one of San Francisco's most colorful politicos.

What's it like to BE Mrs. Chris Daly?
Great, FUN, amazing and CRAZY, all at the same time.

What do you think of SFist's obsession with your husband?
It is sort of fun, though I am not sure what started it.

What about our Mrs. Chris Daly shirts?
Seems odd that I could be walking down the street and see someone wearing one. If that happened I would feel the need to introduce myself. Though, I have never been called Mrs. Chris Daly, so that is a new thing all on its own. Really, though, who would actually pay for such a thing?

How did you meet Chris?
On a trip to the World Youth Festival in Havana, Cuba. Chris was doing a documentary on the festival, and I was a student at SF State. It's actually a fun story that involves cerveza, agua disco and a ride in a three seated taxi -- way too long to tell here.

What do you think would be the best thing your husband could accomplish during his term?
Build a city-wide coalition of progressive people and groups that have a unified stance on local issues and candidates.

What's your general view of San Francisco's political scene?
At City Hall it seems that many people have an over inflated sense of self-importance. At the more grassroots level I think it is vibrant and full of smart, committed, tireless people.

Mayor Newsom is single. Who are you going to set him up with and why?
I don't know him well enough to say. Though I would guess that it wouldn't be anyone I know. It's not like I hang out with Paris and Nicole.

What is it like to watch all those supe’s meetings, because every single thing we see about Chris Daly always says, "wife was forced to come in and calm him down after outburst of rage," and we always wonder, does she just go to all the meetings?
I am at City Hall more often than the average supe's partner, mainly because we live nearby and Jack likes hanging out at his dad's office. It is often times frustrating to watch the meetings, mostly because some in politics take the side of money and profits over the needs of people, groups with well-paid lobbyists are not forced to pay their fair share, our city leaders often lie, and impoverished communities are either overlooked or used as political pawns. Doesn't that piss you off?

Special thanks to crack SFist political correspondent Rita for that *genius* question

Any embarrassing anecdotes about the EssEfficist?
Sorry, not really -- Shane does eat a lot of toast though.

Apparently the Essefficist got to Sarah first -- sorry, we tried.

Did you ever get to hang out with Kimberly Guilfoyle in a spouse-of-politico capacity?
No, I don't go to a lot of those types of events. These days I have a hard time leaving the house with out my 5 month old's spit-up down my shirt.
