I've found out a few things that support that theory Denny. I know a woman who was freind's with his wife, and she says that Mrs. Thompson was indeed on the phone with him when he died, but that he seemed perfectly normal and she heard no gunshot. the plot thickens....

Before he died he was looking into the 9-11 WTC collapses and figured out what a lot of us also have: that the twin towers were not brought down by the airplanes hitting them but instead in a controlled demolition, that the official "explanation" involving the magic jet fuel is as ridiculous as the "magic bullet" in the JFK assassination (coup, rather). He never got to finish it because he died of a "self-inflicted" gunshot wound from someone who didn't want any more light to be shed on this matter.

Sweet fucking christ man, i have read many articles and interview which would support Darrell's thoughts. The man will be missed and look forward to his unpublished works.

Certainly will miss him with all my heart, but he has done more for the drug influenced counterculture political movement by delving into the story, becoming part of it and seeing all good and evil. He shot himself while talking to his wife on the phone.

RIP Dr. Gonzo, prosper Gonzo Journalism I'll do my part

Happy/sad, depressed/not depressed: suicide doesn't reduce to this kind of simplicity. Maybe he was just done. Ready to go. Unwilling to stay for a long last chapter of progressive decline, which by all accounts had begun for him.

Our culture, informed by our state religion, expects us to recoil in horror. Some folks genuinely feel that way. Some don't.

hunter was depressed, so depressed he took his own life.
his wife is a kook. this wasn't a "triumph" but an act of desparation.
people who are happy and at the pinnacle of their careers, do not blow their brains out.
celebrate his death if you want anita, but don't try to make us believe he left happy with his life. i'm not buying it.

dear Hunter: i saw you ramble on incoherently in baltimore years ago. you spoke to the last drop. the empty bottle hit the ceiling and you exited stage right.

RIP insane, prolific, drunk, brilliant, chain-smoking, genius, gun toting, babbling, searing, forceful, witty and dead Hunter.
