Last time I tried to bring a dog to Zeitgeist--about a year ago--they wouldn't let him in. I guess some dog had eaten some of the rat poison that's scattered in the corners of the beer garden and died, so no more with the dogs. Have they changed their policy recently?

Like I say, just about any dive bar in the Mission (Kilowatt, Delerium, 500, Jack's Elixer) will allow dogs 'in' the bar. It's just certain select bars that seem to encourage dogs 'on' the bar (Toronado, Zeitgeist come to mind). A lot of it has to do whether or not it smells as though the dog has been bathed ever. Call me a snob, I like a clean dog.
